  • TELL A STORY THROUGH “DRAMATIC WRITING “

  • DEVELOP A STORY THAT COULD BECOME A SHORT PLAY

  • CHALLENGE A PLAY ALREADY IN-THE-WORKS

In this active playwriting workshop we will:

  • THINK OUTSIDE THE PLAY BOX TO DEVELOP IDEA AND PLOT
  • CHALLENGE PLOT AND CHARACTERS, AND ESPECIALLY DIALOGUE TO FIND ACTION
  • CHALLENGE A PLAY IN THE WORKS
  • In a play, the story can be revealed through action, rather than narration.
    What makes your play active?
  • THROUGH THEATRE, PLAYBUILDING, AND WRITING EXERCISES: Find/develop an idea/Identify your story (or revisit something you have.)
  • FInd the beginning-middle and end - then challenge that.
  • Think about characters. What do they want? What motivates them?
